Join the Canadian Language Industry Association (CLIA) for RENDEZ-VOUS Vancouver at LaSalle College Vancouver! 

RENDEZ-VOUS Vancouver offers an opportunity to:

- Learn about CLIA's efforts to enhance the language industry on a national scale through training, events, and working with leaders in government and the private sector 
- Meet CLIA’s President, Peter Madahian 
- Network with industry leaders and professionals 
- Contribute your insights and help shape the future of our industry 
- Foster valuable connections with local stakeholders

While CLIA primarily represents language service provider companies, all language industry professionals can register to benefit from our networking, training, and other initiatives. Students can enjoy a low-cost membership which can familiarize them with people and businesses in our sector. All are welcome!

Event Details

The cost is $20.00, and includes one drink ticket and delicious appetizers created by LaSalle College’s Culinary Arts students will be served. Cash bar available.

Location: LaSalle College Vancouver
The event will take place at the Bistro/Restaurant on the ground floor, room 112. As you enter the building, you’ll see the restaurant on your right.

Check in will probably be at the entrance of the bistro. It’s accessible to everyone since there is no elevator or stairs.

Parking & Transit: There are two options: there’s paid parking in the LaSalle College building underground. If guests choose to park there, they can take the elevator to the first floor (ground floor) and they’ll see the bistro on their left. This lot closes at 6pm, though. You can still exit after that, but the entrance gate closes at 6pm.

There’s also paid parking in the Renfrew Centre, across from LaSalle. I suggest parking at the Renfrew Centre because the lot closes later, at 8pm. There’s also street parking available on Kaslo Street, Renfrew Street, and other neighbouring streets.

If guests choose to take a taxi or an Uber, there’s a designated drop-off area in front of the building.

LaSalle is a few steps away from the Renfrew Skytrain Station, so taking transit is also a great option.

The Reclaim the Future 3.0 course is a 10-week, live virtual program delivered by AI experts with deep experience in the language services sector. It was developed in partnership with global language industry associations specifically for language service providers, and is now endorsed by the Canadian Language Industry Association.

The online, live training will be delivered in ten 90-minute sessions each Friday at 3pm CET (9am ET)  for 10 weeks from September 19 until November 21.

The program launches on Friday, September 19, 2025, and is available to CLIA member companies with exclusive member discounts. Just select “CLIA” during the registration process.

Cost
Pricing is currently available on the FAQ page, with a significant partner discount for CLIA members. The cost includes all members of your company and is based on company size. Most of our members will fall into the following pricing category:

1-10 employees: $600 (USD)
*Please note that if your organization has between 4-10 employees, you’ll need to email Robert Martin at Magic Beans Agency to get the course for this price at robert@magicbeansagency.com rather than signing up through the registration page. You will also need to be a CLIA member to get this pricing. If you are a CLIA member and your company is 1-3 employees, you can register as usual, and select “CLIA” during the registration process.

"Operationally, the Reclaim course teaches production teams how to select the best AI tool for their environment and needs, how to evaluate and customize it, how to implement it in the production workflow, and how to sell new services. We also include a module on multimedia localization aided by AI and a module on upskilling localization teams, including translators and linguists. We finish the course with a session on strategy. The course is very practical, and we include tool demos in most modules.

The course is aimed at operations people, but also at internal linguists who might become what we call “the AI specialist” and work on the evaluation and customization of the models. It is also aimed at decision-makers who need to hear firsthand what needs to be done to transform their companies.

The course is offered in English only and specializes in translation and localization; interpretation is not covered.

Le cours Reclaim the Future 3.0 est un programme virtuel en direct de dix semaines, offert par des experts en IA ayant une grande expérience dans le secteur des services langagiers. Il a été élaboré en partenariat avec des associations mondiales de l'industrie de la langue, spécifiquement pour les prestataires de services linguistiques, et est désormais approuvé par l'Association canadienne de l'industrie de la langue.
